Alex Gotay is a Florida born artist based in the Pacific Northwest. Their art ranges from the visceral reflection of living with chronic pain to seeking definition along the blurry edges of memory by recreating moments from their life and travels. Using both hand crafts and painting, they create intimate windows into their experiences.

Gotay's writing leans into the gothic and atmospheric, with character driven narratives. Their focus lies in Horror and Fantasy, with a continuous theme of bodily autonomy, the passage of time, and how we cope with our inescapable choices.

Their novel ANHINGA was selected by editor Jeni Chappelle for RevPit 2020, and their novel FIELD GUIDE FOR PRAIRIE NECROMANCY is in search of representation.

Gotay attended the University of North Florida for a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing and obtained a Masters in Visual Art from Jacksonville University. They are genderqueer and pan, and use They/Them pronouns.
